Three Young-Sires Bred in Iowa Enter A.I.
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, July 5, 2001 — Three young sires from registered Holstein
herds in Iowa have been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic
Advancement (PGA) sire-sampling system. They are three of 315 Holstein bulls
from throughout the United States to be part of the program in 2001. In
addition to being sampled through PGA Cooperator herds, these young sires
have been identified as Super Samplers. With this designation, their semen
is available to all interested Holstein breeders.
7HO6888 Far-O-La Lantz DICE-ET is a Ricecrest LANTZ-ET*TL son bred by Rick
J. and Thomas D. Simon, and Richard Demmer, Peosta. His dam, Regancrest
Debbie-Jo-ET (VG-88), produced over 35,000 pounds of milk as a 2-year-old.
This 9HO1729 Brabant Star PATRON-ET*TL daughter’s pedigree traces back to
Snow-N Denises Dellia (EX-95), Gold Medal Dam (GMD) and Dam of Merit (DOM).
DICE’s Rothrock Tradition LEADMAN-ET*TL grandam produced over 29,000 pounds
of milk as a 3-year-old and is Excellent (90-GMD-DOM).
7HO6918 Regancrest-RH BARRY-ET combines type specialists 7HO5157 Regancrest
Elton DURHAM-ET*TL and Ked JUROR. BARRY’s dam Regancrest Juror Brina-ET
(EX-92) produced 39,782 pound of milk, 1,455 pounds of fat and 1,115 pounds
of protein at 4-4. His grandam, Regancrest Aerostar Bert-ET (EX-90-DOM),
completed a production record of 5-2 2x 365 37,790 3.6% 1,357F 3.0% 1,143P.
BARRY was bred by Regancrest and Ryan Hunt, Waukon.
7HO6890 To-Mar NASSAU-RED-ET*TL, bred by Randolph Neal Tompkins, Marengo,
hails from 7HO1897 To-Mar BLACKSTAR’s family. NASSAU-RED’s dam is To-Mar
Leader Heather-ET*RC (VG-87) and as a three-year-old completed a record of
36,180 pounds of milk, 1,581 pound of fat, and 1,130 pounds of protein. His
grandam, To-Mar Wayne Hay (EX-90-GMD-DOM), is the dam of BLACKSTAR.
NASSAU-RED is sired by SFL SHANDY-ET*RC.
