Two Young Sires Bred in
Illinois to Enter A.I.

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Dec. 4, 2001 — Two Holstein young sires, 7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION, bred by John Erbsen, Lanark, Ill., and 7HO7050 Gueldener Emerson SHELL-ET, bred by Gueldener Farms Inc., Moro, Ill., have been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) sire-sampling system. Based on their outstanding pedigrees, DAMION and SHELL are two of 300 Holstein bulls to enter the program in 2001. In addition to being sampled through PGA cooperator herds, these young sires have been identified as SUPER SAMPLERS™. With this designation, their semen is available to all Holstein breeders.

DAMION is a 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET son. His dam, Regancrest Encore Dalhia-ET, is sired by 9HO1833 Marcrest ENCORE. She produced 29,250 pounds of milk, 971 pounds of fat and 913 pounds of protein in 365 days as a 2-year-old and is scored Very Good (87). The second dam on both sides of DAMION’s pedigree is Snow-N Denises Dellia. Scored Excellent (95-2E), this Gold Medal Dam (GMD) and Dam of Merit (DOM) is an extraordinary bull mother with two highly proven sons in the Select Sires’ lineup, DURHAM and 7HO6131 Regancrest Emory DERRY-ET.

SHELL is sired by 7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET. Gueldener Starboy Shelly-ET, SHELL’s dam, is scored Excellent (91) and produced 31,450 pounds of milk, 1,196 pounds of fat and 977 pounds of protein in 365 days at 2 years, 4 months of age. She is currently working on her 4-year-old record and has exceeded 27,900 pounds of milk in 271 days. The second dam is a 7HO2236 Emprise Bell ELTON daughter that is GMD and DOM. Her best record stands at 41,220 pounds of milk, 1,420 pounds of fat and 1,208 pounds of protein.
