Wisconsin Student Named Intern at Leading U.S. A.I. Organization


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, May 30, 2003 — Jenny Byl, Grantsburg, Wis., has been selected as the communications summer intern for Select Sires Inc., Plain City, Ohio. In this role she will develop the 2004 breeding calendar for customers, assist with media-relations activities and work on other communications projects. From May through August she will be based in the Select federation's headquarters office in Plain City.

This fall Byl will be a senior at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wis., where she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in dairy science and life-science communications. On campus she is involved actively in the Association of Women in Agriculture (AWA), for which she recently served as the service coordinator. Byl is the public relations officer for the Badger Dairy Club and is involved with the university's Facilitators Evolution program. A former 4-H member, she is a part of the university's dairy judging team.

Byl is the daughter of Mike and Joyce Byl of Grantsburg, Wis., who own and operate an 80-cow dairy operation, Northernview Holsteins, along with their oldest daughter, Sara.

Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires, Inc. is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and -controlled cooperatives.
