Dr. Donald MonkePLAIN CITY, Ohio, June 20, 2003 — Select Sires, Inc. has announced the promotion of Dr. Donald Monke as its vice president, production operations. In this role he is managing the organization's production operations including herd health and semen collection of more than 1,700 bulls, and is managing more than 80 employees. He continues to be based at Select Sires' headquarters in Plain City, Ohio.

Monke has been a staff veterinarian at Select Sires for 26 years, with responsibilities for bull health, preventive-medicine programs and semen-export compliance. Most recently he was vice president, sire health programs, and was responsible for developing the company's biosecurity program. Chairman of the Certified Semen Services (CSS) board of directors for 10 years and currently vice chairman of the National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) board of directors, Monke recently earned his master's degree in business administration from Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio. Originally from Mt Olive, Ill., he received a doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Ill., in 1977.

Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires, Inc. is a federation of 10 farmer-owned and -controlled cooperatives.
