Four Holsteins Graduate Into Select Sires Lineup
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 11, 2003 — Four Holsteins have graduated
into the active-A.I. lineup at Select Sires following the Nov. 10
announcement of new official dairy-sire evaluations by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture, Interbull and Holstein Association USA.
Three of these new sires are debuting on the breed's Top-100 TPI™
list, with all four transmitting a balance of production and type
as they join North America's leading active-A.I. lineup of 90 Holsteins.
"This graduating class, which is backed by four different sires and
seven different grandsires, offers a variety of mating options," says
Ron Long, vice president, sire procurement, Select Sires. "Each individual
was sampled through the Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™),
which means that producers can have added confidence in this group that
averages 82 percent reliability for production yield and 77 percent
reliability for type. Whether people are looking to improve economically
important type traits like udders, feet and legs, or to increase the
production of milk and components, they'll find one or more sires to
meet their needs among these graduates."
