Four New Jerseys Expand
Select Sires' Genetic Diversity

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 13, 2003 — Select Sires' diverse lineup of proven Jersey sires has expanded to 20 with the November release of four new graduates into its active-A.I. program. This follows the quarterly publishing of the dairy-sire evaluations by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, InterBull and the American Jersey Cattle Association. These new graduates include an early 7JE342 Altheas Les PITINO Al-Top-ET son, the breed's highest-indexing A.I.-sampled son of Bancrest Lester AVERY and the first proven sire from an untapped cow family in Oregon.

"These four sires make up the largest, and possibly the most diverse, graduating class of Jerseys ever to enter into active-A.I. service at Select Sires," says Jeff Ziegler, dairy sire analyst, Select Sires. "Each sire offers a unique pedigree and the proven ability to transmit a balance of traits that can meet the varying needs of Jersey enthusiasts everywhere. And, three are graduates of the Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™), which has become one of the largest Jersey progeny-testing programs in the world."
