Three Well-Known Holstein Sires
Reviewed By Classification Committee

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Feb. 24, 2004 — Prominent bulls in the Select Sires Holstein lineup, 7HO3707 Paradise-R Cleitus MATHIE*CV (EX-96-GM), 7HO6326 Regancrest DIFFERENCE-ET*TV (EX-95), and 7HO6511 O-Bee Winchester JASON*TV (EX-95), are now three of the breed’s highest-classified animals recognized by Holstein Association USA, Brattleboro, Vt. This announcement follows the February type evaluation by a committee of classifiers from the association who visited the Plain City facility. In January all three sires were pegged as candidates for new type appraisal scores of 95 points or higher during a routine classification.

With these scores, the threesome joins four other bulls in the stud that are Excellent (95) or higher — 7HO4213 Robthom INTEGRITY-ET*TV (EX-96-GM), 7HO4637 Ladys-Manor WINCHESTER-ET*TV (EX-95-GM), 7HO5841 Sikkema-Star-W HI METRO-ET*CV (EX-96), and 7HO6250 Ricecrest EMERSON-ET*TV,BL (EX-96).

Committee Raises Final Score on All Three

Raised another point to Excellent (96), MATHIE, the oldest living bull at Select Sires, was commended by the classifiers for his amazing physical conformation at 15 years and seven months of age. He still is producing high-quality semen, nearly 1.5 million units produced and sold, which ranks him among the highest producers of frozen semen in the world. A customer-satisfaction sire, MATHIE also remains one of the top-selling sires in the federation’s marketing program.

DIFFERENCE, who was raised to Excellent (95), is a maternal brother to 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV (EX-90-GM). As one would expect from a member of the Dellia family, DIFFERENCE sires extremely tall, large-framed cows with great feet and legs. His outstanding linear on 119 daughters in 76 herds resulted in a February 2004 Predicted Transmitting Ability (PTA) for Type of +2.06, 90% Rel., with an extreme composite score for body size (BD) of +3.30.

Also deemed worthy of two additional points, JASON was raised to Excellent (95). He is the fifth-highest PTA milk sire (+2,305M, 90% Rel.) in the Select lineup. JASON’s maternal brother, 7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET*TV (EX-92), better known as O MAN, is the breed’s highest-ranking TPI™ and Net-Merit Dollars sire on the February 2004 sire summary at +1918TPI, 93% Rel., and +857NM$.
