Select Sires Adds Four
+1600 TPI Sires to Holstein Lineup


PLAIN CITY, Ohio, August 10, 2004 — Four new proven sires with Type-Production Indexes (TPI™) that exceed +1600 have been added to Select Sires' active-A.I. Holstein lineup following the August 9 release of official dairy-sire evaluations by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Holstein Association USA. All are graduates of the Program for Genetic Advancement™ (PGA™) sampling system and all rank in the top half of the Holstein Association's Top-100 TPI list.

"These sires give producers some exciting new genetic options. The foursome includes the first two proven sons of Carol Prelude MTOTO-ET and the first proven son of Wa-Del CONVINCER to be released by Select Sires," says Blaine Crosser, vice president, dairy products and services, Select Sires. Top New Sire at +1745 TPI

9HO2831 Kings-Ransom M DUCE-ET*TV is transmitting the same high solids and profitable management traits that made his sire MTOTO popular among producers. The second-best sire at Select and one of the breed's top 10 at +1745 TPI, this SUPERIOR SETTLER™ is also among the stud's high-component sires at +.09%F +72F +.03%P +48P (86% Rel.) with extreme dollar values for all milk markets at +645 Net Merit Dollars (NM$), +656 Cheese Merit Dollars (CM$) and +623 Fluid Merit Dollars (FM$). DUCE also balances a profitable +1,396 Predicted Transmitting Ability for Milk (PTAM) with sound type at +1.81 PTAT, +2.04 Udder Composite (UC), +1.86 Feet-and-Leg Composite (FLC), and 83% Rel.

Select Sires Balancing Production and Type with High TPIs

Debuting at +1643 TPI, which ranks him seventh at Select Sires and one of the top 35 on Holstein's Top-100 list, 7HO6645 AltaGEN-I 2866-ET*CV is the highest of four 7HO4637 Ladys-Manor WINCHESTER-ET sons for TPI in the Select Sires marketing program. Touting a +2,307 PTA for Milk (84% Rel.), GEN-I and his sire are two of 11 in the stud that are over a ton of milk. Reflecting on his maternal pedigree, which includes a Very Good (86) Norrielake Cleitus LUKE-TW daughter, GEN-I generates an impressive linear type profile of +1.74T +2.22UC +1.26FLC +1.23 Body Composite +1.99 Dairy Composite (82% Rel.).
