PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Aug. 31, 2004 — Holstein Association USA Inc., Brattleboro, Vt., has named 7HO5442 Muranda Mandel MOE-ET*TV, 7HO5581 Eastview Emory EQUITY-ET*TV, 7HO5592 Wil-Hart E LOUIE-ET*TV, 7HO6682 B-Hiddenhills Mar MARMAX-ET*TV, and 7HO6753 CANYON-Breeze Storm Atom-ET*TV Gold Medal Sires. This exclusive designation is awarded to only approximately 25 sires each year.

The Gold Medal Sire designation was given to these bulls in recognition of their superior type and production of their officially tested and classified offspring. To qualify, bulls must exceed a specified level for Type-Production Index (TPI™), must have a minimum reliability of 90 percent for their Predicted Transmitting Ability for Fat (PTAF) and Predicted Transmitting Ability for Type (PTAT) genetic evaluations and must be free of any recognized undesirable genetic defect.

MARMAX, the only 7HO5375 Mara-Thon BW MARSHALL-ET*TV son in A.I., is currently the No. 11 TPI sire and has 274 daughters in his first-crop production proof with 94 percent reliability. This Herdlife Builder™ is +1.53 for type (92% Rel.) while maintaining an outstanding milk proof of +2,665M.

CANYON currently has over 300 daughters in his productions proof with 94 percent reliability. At +2.48PTAT (90% Rel.), this Herdlife Builder transmits beautiful udders and improves all feet and leg traits.

Second-Crop Success Sires Still Extremely Popular

With +2,110 PTA Milk, MOE is 98 percent reliable and was named a Herdlife Builder. EQUITY, a calving ease sire (7% DBH), combines high production (+2,226M, 98% Rel.) and top type (+1.95T, 92% Rel.) into one package. LOUIE has more than 2,600 daughters in his production proof (+1,973M, 99% Rel.) and was recently removed from stud. There is a limited amount of his semen available.
