Holstein Sire From Maryland to Enter A.I.
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Dec. 13, 2004 — 7HO8179 Savage-Leigh LIMELIGHT-ET*TV,
bred by Christopher Savage, Knoxville, Md., has been chosen to enter
Select Sires' Program for Genetic Advancement™, (PGA™)
sire-sampling system. Based on his outstanding pedigree, LIMELIGHT is
one of 300 Holstein bulls to enter the program in 2004. In addition to
being sampled through PGA cooperator herds, this young sire has been
identified as a SUPER SAMPLER™. With this designation, his semen is
available to all Holstein breeders.
Calbrett-I H H CHAMPION-ET is the sire of LIMELIGHT. His dam,
Savage-Leigh Aaron Linny-ET, is scored Very Good (88-EX-MS). She
produced 2-0 365d 39,160M 4.0% 1,552F 3.1% 1,212P. Linny's full
sister, Lottery, also produced over 32,000 pounds of milk from an
Excellent udder. Savage-Leigh Durham Licorice-ET, Very Good (89-EX-MS),
is a maternal sister to Linny and was named intermediate and reserve
grand champion at the New York International Spring Show in 2004.
LIMELIGHT's grandam is Savage-Leigh Bellwood Linda, Excellent (92-2E).
She is scored Excellent in all five linear categories and is a Gold
Medal Dam as well as a Dam of Merit. Linda's best record stands at 2-10
365d 40,240M 5.8% 2,349F 3.4% 1,358P. This record placed her first
in fat and third in overall milk production in Maryland that year.
