Three Select Sires Bulls Now Excellent (94)

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Jan. 3, 2007 — Classifiers from the Holstein Association USA, Brattleboro, Vt., officially evaluated a group of sires at Select Sires and designated three active lineup bulls “Excellent” for type and raised three active sires to Excellent (94). Of the sires scored on Select’s lineup, nearly 80 percent are designated Excellent with the remainder classified Very Good.

"Outstanding conformation of the individual sires is always an added bonus, which was reflected in Select Sires' most recent Holstein bull classification program with many new Excellent lineup and in-waiting sires. Select Sires’ active lineup now boasts 53 Excellent sires with three of our most popular sires being raised in score to Excellent 94 points."

The breed’s elite type and Showcase Selections™ sires, 7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION and 7HO7872 KHW Kite ADVENT-RED-ET were both raised from Excellent (93) to Excellent (94). A Herdlife Builder™, DAMION ranks second in the breed for Type and first among Select’s lineup at +3.18 (94% Rel.). At +2.60 Type (82% Rel.) and +2.07 Udder Composite, ADVENT-RED also carries the Herdlife Builder designation and continues to uphold his red-hot, show-ring reputation with stylish daughters winning shows and selling for record dollars.

9HO2575 Peckenstein Form BRET-ET, a second-crop health trait specialist, was raised to Excellent (94). BRET tops Select’s lineup for both Somatic Cell Score (2.48 96% Rel.) and Daughter Pregnancy Rate (+3.2 90% Rel.). 7HO6695 Latuch Convincer Farley-ET, a fat specialist (+.22% +101 90% Rel.) now scores Excellent (92). LC increases profitability at +$459 Net Merit Dollars (82% Rel.) and excels in calving ease (6% CE 97% Rel.). Also now scored Excellent (92) is 7HO7367 Art-Acres Mar MARS 656-ET, a Herdlife Builder and TPI™ super-star at +1666 (86% Rel.).

Sires now scored Excellent (91) include 7HO7020 To-Mar D-FORTUNE-ET, the highest conformation bull in Canada (+2.93 Type 63% Rel.), 7HO7566 MR Regancrest DEX-ET, 7HO7455 Conant-Acres BWM GRANGER-ET, 7HO5605 Ladys-Manor WARRIOR-ET, 7HO7396 Velvet-View-KJ STRUCTURE-ET, 7HO7145 Silmarillion CASIMIR Eddie, 7HO7264 Raggi Mtoto MAN-ET and 7HO6838 Barbi-Lyn M MATCHES-ET. 7HO7071 LE-O-La Emerson Classic-TW and 7HO7452 FRITZland CJ Abe-ET are now scored Excellent (90). In addition, more than 40 sires awaiting progeny results were deemed "Excellent" including sons of 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET, 7HO5375 Mara-thon BW MARSHALL-ET and Comestar Outside.
