High-Components Graduates Contribute to Breed-Leading Lineups at Select Sires
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Feb. 20, 2007 — With the release of Feb. 12 genetic evaluations, Select Sires introduced new graduates to its high-components lineups. Highlighted by breed-leaders that excel in production, type improvement, health traits and more, the enhanced lineups offer sires that will improve dairy producers’ herds in a variety of ways.
New Jersey Graduates
New release 7JE707 MVF Maximus JUAN-ET is the only proven 7JE620 Sunset Canyon MAXIMUS-ET son available in A.I. today. JUAN carries the new HealthMark™ designation, which denotes sires with increased profitability based on health traits. He fits the high cheese-merit market at +$460 Cheese Merit Dollars (67% Rel.), placing him among the top-15 in the breed. At +215 JPI™ (63% Rel.), JUAN is No. 12 in the breed. His dam, MVF Brass Major Juanita-ET (EX-93), made 24,700 pounds of milk and 1,214 pounds of fat in 305 days as a 5-year-old. At +1.3 Type and a low Expected Future Inbreeding of 6 percent, JUAN offers wide appeal.
7JE715 BW FINALIST, a Showcase Selections™ sire, is the newest 7JE329 Sooner CENTURION-ET son. At +2.0 Type (59% Rel.) and +1,026 Milk (58% Rel.), FINALIST fills the high-type and high-production void left by 7JE696 BW LEGION. His dam is a 7JE321 Duncan Chief daughter scored Excellent (93), followed by an Excellent (90) grandam. FINALIST’s daughters are extremely clean-boned with terrific rear udder height and width.

7JE670 C-Bar Hallmark GERONIMO once again tops the Jersey breed for Milk at +2,038 (91% Rel.). GERONIMO also performs well for JPI at +210 and is fourth in the breed for pounds of Protein (+51).

Introducing New Guernsey Sire
7GU395 Sniders Option AARON-ET is a fat specialist debuting as the No. 2 sire in the breed for both pounds of Fat (+54 70% Rel.) and percent Fat (+.14%). AARON improves Type at +1.1 (68% Rel.), transmits correct feet and legs at +2.4 FLC and stands No. 7 in the breed for PTI at +150. He is the first proven son of Cedar Fringed Altann, an Excellent (95-EX-95-MS-GSD), three-time national grand champion with more than 150,000 pounds of milk lifetime. With five Excellent and six Very Good maternal sisters, AARON hails from a highly respected cow family proven for production, type and tanbark success. 7AY77 Galney-EPC Galant RAMIUS combines a unique pedigree, nice components (+.00% +10 P +.03% +18 F 64% Rel.) and show-winning Type (+1.1 59% Rel.). His dam, Galney-EPC L.H. Rosy (EX-90-ELITE) debuted in 2001 as the All-American milking yearling. She produced a 4-year-old record of 32,980 pounds of milk at 1,238 pounds of fat. The grandam, Covey-Farms Reno Rosy (EX-91) has three records exceeding 33,000 pounds of milk and 1,100 pounds of fat. RAMIUS’s daughters are extremely tall with great capacity and overall width.
