High-Components Lineups Shine at Select Sires

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, May 29, 2007 — Select Sires released new Jersey and Milking Shorthorn sires following the May 14 genetic evaluations. In addition, Select’s high-components lineups continue to be highlighted with breed-leaders that meet the needs of today’s dairy producers.


LOTT, son of BARKLY, Debuts on Select’s Active Lineup


7JE731 Peelers Barkly Dr LOTT-ET is the son of 7JE488 Long Distance Barber BARKLY, one of Select’s greatest customer-satisfaction sires. At +1,287 Milk (80% Rel.), LOTT ranks among the top 20 in the breed. LOTT’s dam, Peelers Brass Major Lissa (EX-90), is still alive and being flushed at 12-years-old after many records of more than 20,000 pounds of milk. A full sister to LOTT is Excellent (91) with more than 23,500 pounds of milk. The third and fourth dams are also scored Excellent, completing a clean sweep of maternal excellence. LOTT produces clean and flat-boned daughters at 1.70 dairy form and excels in rear udder height (1.30) and rear udder width (1.60).

Brown Swiss Breed Leaders

He is also No. 3 for both pounds of protein (+41) and Milk (+1,186). Also on the gender SELECTed lineup, 7BS766 Blessing Banker AGENDA ET*TM impresses in many traits. AGENDA is No. 3 for Percent Fat (+.14% Fat 89% Rel.) and No. 4 for pounds of fat (+40 Fat). Milking Shorthorn KOURT Graduates to Proven Lineup


7MS343 Gold Mine Frost KOURT debuts first among Milking Shorthorns for Type at +0.8 (45% Rel.) and second for PTI at +133. KOURT is a Vinra Glen Frost son from an Excellent (90) dam. He transmits high components (+29 Fat +.07% +19 Protein +.02% 64% Rel.), as the No. 2 sire in the breed for pounds of protein and No. 3 sire for pounds of fat. He is the breed’s leader for Percent Protein and ranks second for Percent Fat. KOURT daughter Daysland Acres Rosie Posie was the 2005 reserve junior All-American winter heifer calf and his dam was reserve All-American junior 3-year-old and honorable mention junior 2-year-old.
