DURHAM Makes History: Named Expo Premier Sire Five Years in a Row

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Oct. 10, 2007 — For an unprecedented fifth year in a row, the most prestigious award given to a bull, the Ted Krueger Premier Sire award, was won by 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV at the 2007 World Dairy Expo International Holstein Show, Madison, Wis. No other sire has ever won this celebrated award five consecutive times. The milking cow classes were dominated by DURHAM with 56 of his daughters entered, representing 20 percent of the show.

DURHAM highlights from World Dairy Expo include the winner of the Holstein Kinsgsmill Farm II International Futurity class, Budjon Durham Dixee-ET (VG-87). She is owned by Budjon Farms, Lomira, Wis. Budjon-JK Durham Episode (VG-89), owned by Arethusa Farm, Litchfield, Conn., placed second in the senior 2-year-old class. Second in the six-year-old and older cow class was Coldsprings Dur Chan 109-ET (EX-95-EX-MS), owned by Kingstead Farm and Tom Mercuro, Damascus, Md. Stone-Rise Durham Lizzy (EX-95) was third in the 125,000 pound cow class. She is owned by Kevn and Barb Ziemba and William Brown Jr., Aurora, N.Y. Regancrest Farm and Mark Butz, Waukon, Iowa, are the owners of Ky-Blue Durham Kristen-ET (VG-86), who placed second in the fall yearling in milk class.

In the heifer classes, Ms Durham Covergirl-ET was the second place fall heifer calf. She is owned by Richard and Shannon Allyn and Todd Whittier, West Sutton, Mass. Lake-View Durham Gina, owned by Jeff Butler and Gerald Todd, Chebanse, Ill., was second in the spring yearling heifer class

Earlier in the week, the Grand National Junior Holstein Show was highlighted by DURHAM daughter Hillmont Durham Lyndi (EX-93), owned by Luther Hillegass, Berlin, Pa. She topped the six-year-old and older cow class and then went on to win senior and grand champion female of the junior show.
