Select-Sired Offspring Named Champions at NAILE
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 20, 2007 — Daughters of Select’s sires gained acclaim as champions and high sellers at the 2007 North American International Livestock Exhibition in Louisville, Ky. Sires such as 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV, 7JE356 Lester SAMBO, 7JE329 Sooner CENTURION-ET, 7GU360 Trotacre Loral TILLER-ET and 7GU385 Pine Ridge SUPER LUX-ET were well represented in very strong classes.
DURHAM daughter, Logsdons Durham Cher (VG-87), was named grand champion and first place 4-year-old of the Grand National Holstein Junior Show. She was exhibited by Katie Gibson, Eminence, Ky.
CENTURION, SAMBO and PARMOUNT Dominate All American Jersey Show
CENTURION won Premier Performance Sire honors and his daughter, Cloverfield Centurion Essence (VG-88), was recognized as Premier Performance Cow. She is owned by Craig Martin, Olivert, Mich. Ratliff Sambo Martina (EX-91), owned by Christy Ratliff, Garnett, Kan., topped the Jersey Jug Futurity class. Third place in the Jug went to TLV SC Stacy (EX-90). She is sired by CENTURION and owned by Ty-Ly-View Farm and Gordon Farm, Roaring Branch, Pa. SAR Sambo Fairie (EX-91), exhibited by Bush River Jerseys, Goff Dairy and Tammie Stiles French, Newberry, S.C., was fourth in Futurity. Rounding out the top five was SAR Paramount Brassie, sired by 7JE442 Rock Ella PARMOUNT-ET and owned by Tammie Stiles French, Newberry, S.C.
Michael Centurion Darla (EX-91) was named Premier Performance Cow at the All American Junior Jersey Show. She is sired by CENTURION and owned by Kaila and Colin Wussow, Cecil, Wis. The top-selling female at the All American Jersey Sale was Sunset Canyon Legion L Maid, daughter of 7JE696 BW LEGION. Consigned by Eric Silva, Beaver, Ore., she was purchased for $26,000 by Ahlem Farms Partnership, Hilmar, Calif. The top-selling male, DLM Legion VALUE, bred by Dana Metzger, Rock Rapids, Iowa, was purchased for $25,000 by the VALUE Syndicate. He will be available from Select Sires.
Select Sires Bull Mother Named All American Jersey Show Grand Champion
Llolyn Jude Griffen-ET (EX-94), the elite dam of Showcase Selections™ sire 7JE867 Griffens GOVERNOR-ET, earned the grand champion banner at the All American Jersey Show. Owned by Peter Vail and Budjon Farms, Lomira, Wis., Griffen was senior champion female and winner of the 6-year-old and older cow class. She was also grand champion at the 2007 Central National Jersey Show at World Dairy Expo, Madison, Wis. GOVERNOR is sired by SAMBO and is now available to all Jersey breeders.
TILLER and SUPER LUX Daughters Highlight National Guernsey Show
Hot off her 2007 World Dairy Expo reserve grand champion accolades, Moziers Lux Anne of Lavon Farm (VG-89-EX-90-MS) was grand and intermediate champion at the National Guernsey Show. She is sired by SUPER LUX and owned by Lavon Farms and Gary Estes, Plano, Texas. TILLER daughter Snider Tiller Gala, exhibited by Kendy Gable, New Enterprise, Pa., took junior champion honors after topping the winter yearling heifer class. Reserve junior champion went to Chupps Farms Tiller Livia, also a TILLER daughter. She won the spring yearling heifer class and is owned by Delbert and Heather Yoder and Dale and Stan Chupp, West Salem, Ohio. TILLER also dominated the National Guernsey Junior Show. His daughter, OCS Dairy Daisys Dia (EX-90-EX-90-MS), was senior and grand champion of the junior show. She is owned by Chance Smith, Jefferson, Md.
