Young Sire from California Enters Super Sampler Lineup at Select Sires



PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Dec. 20, 2007 — 7HO9290 Calori-D Gold Jwl GARNET-ET, bred by Calori-D Holsteins, Denair, Calif., has been chosen to enter Select Sires’ Program for Genetic AdvancementTM (PGATM) sire-sampling system. Based on his outstanding pedigree, GARNET is one of 330 Holstein bulls to enter the program in 2007. In addition to being sampled through PGA cooperator herds, this young sire has been identified as a Super SamplerTM. With this designation, GARNET semen is available to all Holstein breeders.

GARNET is bred for show-ring style, health traits and high components. Sired by high-component bull Braedale Goldwyn, GARNET hails from an outstanding maternal line. His dam is Ocean-View Ito Jewel (EX-92-EX-MS), the 2005 Reserve All-American junior 3-year-old cow with a 3-year-old milk record of more than 35,000 pounds of milk. GARNET’s second dam, Ocean-View Durham Jewel (EX-91-EX-MS-2E), boasts a 3-year-old record of over 39,000 pounds of milk.
