Select-Sired Offspring Shine at NAILE
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, November 20, 2008 — Daughters of Select’s sires gained acclaim as champions and class winners at the 2008 North American International Livestock Exhibition in Louisville, Ky. Sires such as 7JE696 BW LEGION, 7JE356 Lester SAMBO, 7JE867 Griffens GOVERNOR-ET, 9GU148 Trotacre Enhancer TYLER-ET, 7HO7872 KHW Kite ADVENT-RED-ET and 7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION were well represented in very strong classes.
GOVERNOR, LEGION and SAMBO Highlight the All American Jersey Show
Showcase Selections™ sire GOVERNOR is quickly creating buzz on the colored shavings. SSF Governor Iris, owned by Silver Spring Farm, Syracuse, N.Y., was named reserve junior champion after placing first in the senior heifer calf class. Iris was one of three GOVERNOR heifers that placed among the top-5 in their classes at World Dairy Expo.
Legion Polly (E-92%), sired by LEGION and owned by Nic, Jeni, Ben and Andy Sauder, Tremont, Ill., was grand champion and first-place 4-year-old of the All American Jersey Junior Show.
The National Jersey Jug Futurity was dominated by Select-sired offspring with SAMBO siring the winner and LEGION siring the runner-up. KCJF Sambo Molly (E-91%), owned by Brittany Core, Salvisa, Ky., won the Jug while UHT Canaan Legion Sunshine (VG-89%), owned by Bush River Jerseys, Goff Dairy and Skiparilla, Newberry, S.C. took second.
DURHAM, DAMION and ADVENT-RED Daughters Perform Well in Holstein Show
7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET*CV daughter, Logsdons Durham Cher (EX-95), exhibited by Katie Gibson, Eminence, Ky., repeated as grand champion of the Grand National Holstein Junior Show after topping the 5-year-old class. Cher also won her class in the Grand National Holstein Open Show.
Also in the open show, Carrdale Damion Raven (EX-92-EX-MS), owned by Katie Cole, Bucyrus, Ohio, and sired by DAMION, placed second in the 5-year-old class. In addition, ADVENT-RED daughter Paule View Firecracker Red topped the spring heifer class. She is owned by Paulson Suton, Juneau, Wis.
DURHAM daughter Rocky Top Durham Silly, owned by Cole Beaty, McDonald, Tenn., won the junior 2-year-old class in the junior show.
TYLER Daughter Wins Guernsey Gold Futurity, TILLER Daughters Win Several Classes
Dix-Lee Tyler Izzy (VG-87), owned by Steven Dixon, Phillipsburg, Mo., and sired by TYLER, won the Guernsey Gold Futurity class. This 3-year-old cow was All-American fall yearling in 2006 and is an excellent example of an outstanding heifer developing into an even better cow.
7GU360 Trotacre Loral TILLER-ET, hot off being named Premier Sire for the fourth consecutive time at World Dairy Expo, sired several class winners at the National Guernsey Show. Prairie Cream Tiller Abigail-ET (VG-88) was reserve intermediate champion after winning the junior 3-year-old class. She is owned by Prairie Cream Farm, Trempealeau, Wis. Mi Will Tiller Malibu (EX-91), owned by Ken Wilson, Neosho, Mo., topped the 4-year-old class. Owned by Yoder and Chupp, West Salem, Ohio, Chupps Farm Tiller Livia won the junior 2-year-old class. The winner of the fall heifer calf class was Four Winds Tiller Debutante-ET, owned by Clark and Joy Vilter, Hartland, Wis.
