The World's source for Bovine Genetics
All West/Select Sires Moves
to New Location

All West Old DriveNovember 30, 2001 — In February 1941 - less than three years after the first A.I. organization was established in the United States, a small group of dairymen in Skagit County, Washington got together to found Skagit Artificial Breeding Association. They brought in a half dozen bulls - Holstein, Guernsey, and Jersey. Most of these bulls were "rented" for the going rate of $10.00 per month. In the early years other neighboring counties - Whatcom and Snohomish - joined to form Northwest Co-operative Breeders Association.

Article III of the original Articles of Incorporation reads as follows: "The purpose of this association shall be to improve the dairy herds of its membership by (1) providing breeding services at reasonable fees by artificial insemination with semen obtained from Superior Sires and (2) rendering such other services as may appear desirable. The place where its principle business will be transacted is Burlington, Skagit County, Washington." The mission of the cooperative remains the same after 60 years.

All West Street PhotoFrom these humble beginnings, the west's oldest and most successful A.I. cooperative was established. Now after 60 years - All West/Select Sires is moving to a new location. As the city of Burlington grew to surround the old location - the possibility of expansion and upgrading was limited. The explosive growth in both semen sales and animal health care products over the past few years have overflowed the available space. The new facility located in an industrial park just north of Burlington was built with the future in mind as it has ample room for expansion and puts the liquid nitrogen storage tank in an industrial setting. Hopefully the foresite going into the new facility will not only put All West in a new location, but will allow All West to grow and prosper for another 60 years.

Manager's of the Cooperative
1941 - 1953     Don Waldo
1953 - 1971     Jay Harris
1971 - 1991     Archie Nelson
1992 -              Herald Catlin

General Manager, Herald Catlin states, "Under the leadership of president Pete DeGroot, the board of directors and executive committee have done an outstanding job of guiding the cooperative and making sound, long range decisions in the best interest of the membership. They have always worked to keep the organization financially strong, while making available the elite genetics, products and programs at a competitive price to all dairy and beef producers in the west.

All West/Select SiresOn November 16th, we completed the move into our new office and warehouse facilities in Burlington, Washington. This is a brand new, well built, modern facility which will allow All West to continue to grow and prosper for years to come.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the several thousand dairy and beef producers who have patronized All West for so many years - some are second and third generation customers. You are the reason this cooperative continues to grow, gain marketshare and be so successful.

All West is fortunate to have knowledgeable, personable employees that are dedicated in providing the best genetics, products and service to our customers. Log onto our website at www.allwestselectsires.com for more information on our products, genetics and the people who serve you."
