LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 24, 2001 — Jessica Gatton, daughter of William and Veronica Gatton of Crane, Mo., recently was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the KABA/Select Sires Inc. board of directors.

This fall Jessica will be enrolled at Crowder University in Neosho, Mo., as a freshman majoring in dairy science with a minor in agribusiness. Jessica’s acceptance was based on a strong application, which included membership in the National Honor Society, student council and band, as well as being FTA vice president and chapter president of the local FFA and area secretary for FFA. Jessica is heavily involved in the Holstein, Ayrshire and Jersey breeds, owning and showing cows from each breed. Jessica was selected from candidates from across the state of Missouri.

After graduation Jessica plans to return to the family dairy farm. KABA/Select Sires Inc. awards two scholarships per year to deserving students in Missouri whose families are members of the KABA/Select Sires Inc. cooperative.

KABA/Select Sires Inc. is a farmer-owned cooperative based in Louisville, Ky. It provides highly fertile semen as well as excellence in service and programs to achieve its basic objective of supplying livestock breeders with America’s best genetics at a reasonable price.
