Bred by Riv-Val-Re Farms in Webberville, Michigan, RAGER-RED attracted early attention because of his unique pedigree. A son of Relief P from a Very Good (88) 7HO10606 OBSERVER dam with an Excellent (90) 7HO7872 ADVENT-RED grandam, he offered Red & White and Holstein breeders an outcross option. “He had such an outcross pedigree,” said Kevin Jorgensen, Senior Holstein Sire Analyst, Select Sires Inc. “Even today, he's one of the lowest Expected Future Inbreeding (EFI) bulls in the breed.”
RAGER-RED’s success stemmed from much more than pedigree. Through multiple genetic base changes, he consistently delivered the traits commercial and registered breeders value most: positive production, strong components, functional type and dependable performance.
“He was, and continues to be, a customer satisfaction specialist that people lean on as an alternative for overall balance,” Jorgensen said. “He sires cows that have no serious flaws and met the needs of multiple customers across multiple countries.”
That consistency translated to extraordinary demand. RAGER-RED ranked among Select Sires’ leading unit-selling sires for multiple years, including earning the distinction of the organization’s top-selling dairy sire in both 2018 and 2019.
His influence is visible in herds worldwide and in the show ring. RAGER-RED daughters are known for their strength, dairy character and longevity, with many developing into tremendous cows as they mature.
Perhaps RAGER-RED’s greatest impact has been his international reach. More than half of the one million units sold have been exported outside the United States, with semen distributed to approximately 50 countries. His daughters have earned a reputation for durability, profitability and trouble-free performance in diverse production systems around the globe.
“International breeders consistently cite longevity, power, depth and mobility as defining characteristics of RAGER-RED daughters. When you see fifth- and sixth-lactation daughters still performing at high levels – that’s what helps farmers remain profitable,” said Brian Albertoni, Business Development Director, World Wide Sires Ltd.
As RAGER-RED joins Select Sires’ prestigious Millionaire Club, his record stands as a testament to the power of balanced genetics and customer-focused breeding. More than a sales milestone, one million units represent generations of daughters that continue to create value in herds on nearly every continent. While his influence is already firmly established, the story of RAGER-RED is far from over.
